THE FIRST NEUROFEEDBACK SYSTEM

With Image-Based Evidence of Success

View Science & Studies

Science

The system is science based and safe, with studies conducted across major Universities and research centers supporting our methodology that yields life changing results for nearly every patient we treat. The Veterans Administration in conjunction with the University of California, San Diego has conducted, and continues to conduct, studies on the technology. Mended Minds is also currently involved in a clinical study with anxiety and depression sufferers with the University of Texas, Tyler.

Studies

Unlike traditional neurofeedback, IASIS MCN Neurofeedback produces fast results in a limited number of sessions, and the ease and simplicity of treatment all distinguish it from traditional neurofeedback.

IASIS MCN produces a measurable change in brainwaves, yet is imperceptible to the patient and requires no conscious effort. The result is an improved brainwave state and much greater ability for the brain and nervous system to regulate itself.

Our experience shows that 85% of patients report a positive response within one to three treatments. Patients suffering from mild/moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, migraines, insomnia, depression, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, and a host of other neurological disorders report a significant reduction in symptoms, improved sleep and reduced pulsivity. These reported changes are generally enduring and sustainable.

VA Study

VA scientists are studying an experimental electrical stimulation technique, coupled with neuroimaging, to learn how mild traumatic brain injury interacts with PTSD in specific areas of the brain.

Benefits of IASIS MCN

Treats the Source of the problem, not the symptoms.

What you should expect:

While seated, five lightweight EEG electrodes will be placed at different areas on your head and neck. The areas will be cleaned and prepped for a conductive paste that will hold the electrodes in place. The position of the electrodes may vary through the treatment and in subsequent treatments.
The sessions delivered by a certifed provider will be around 45-60 minutes from start to finish after the initial 60-90 minute introductory session. The level of electricity from the FDA Registered Iasis device is 1/100 of a AA battery over 1/100 of a second; people report not feel anything from the electrodes. According to Dr. Frank Shallenberger, Iasis MCN is even safe even for babies and pregnant women. There are 6 protocol settings and numerous different sensitivity levels that may be selected, depending on how fragile or hardy one’s nervous system is (which is assessed by the Certified IASIS Provider prior to each session), as well as how one responds during or after the session, at which time adjustments may be made.
Some temporary reactivity of the nervous system in the 24 to 48 hours after the treatment may occur such as feelings of fatigue, spaciness, anxiousness, wired, headache or the temporary increase of a symptom. This is completely normal and will pass and may be expected. It is a sign that one is neuroregulating; and is a positive sign your brain and nervous system is responding. Even though it may be temporarily uncomfortable, it will not persist and will be followed by improvement. It is crucial to remember that reactivity is demonstrating that ‘something good is happening’ and that every subset of a reaction is a positive response.
Your feedback 24 hours after every session by email called the ‘Observation Sheet’ is mandatory and helps us fine tune the treatment to ‘dial in’ what will be optimal for you. It is not always possible to predict who will have a stronger reaction, and again this is not a bad thing, it is your nervous system responding and in fact is seen as a very positive sign that change for the better is happening. Like anything in life, it is a process. Try to be patient with the journey. Suspend any disbelief and give yourself permission to allow yourself to simply observe any minute changes.

Please let us know if you do experience any unpleasant feelings, as we often suggest following up after such an occurrence with a brief gentle treatment to calm ones nervous system and help bring about homeostasis.

As you improve and your treatments hold longer we will increase the time between treatments until they become enduringly sustainable and you no longer need treatment. Initially one may have 2-3 sessions per week. The total number of treatments will vary from person to person but a typical range would be 10 to 20 treatments, with recommendations for more being common with more fixed, longer standing conditions. Some people will notice changes in between 1-3 sessions while others may require more treatments before they notice a positive change.

Relieve Anxiety

Prolonged stress from dealing with emergency situations predisposes firefighters and paramedics to physical and mental disturbances.

Relieve PTSD

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 1-in-5 recent combat veterans develops PTSD, an overactive fear memory that triggers disturbing thoughts, feelings and dreams.

Relieve Anger

About 1-in-5 police officers say their job nearly always or often makes them feel angry and frustrated – feelings that are linked to more negative views of the public.

Over 100,000 patients and counting have safely used the methodology with stunning results
